Senja & Kvaløya
Senja had been on my mind since 2021, ever since I first heard about its breathtaking beauty. I couldn’t stop dreaming about exploring this magical place. Finally, in October 2023, the opportunity came, and my friend Ewa and I set off to uncover the wonders of the far North. My expectations were sky-high, thanks to Lofoten, which had already stolen my heart—and Senja didn’t disappoint.
After landing in Tromsø, we picked up a rental car and began our journey toward Senja. Our route first took us through Kvaløya, an island so mesmerizing that it was hard to keep my eyes on the road. Wild and majestic, its untouched landscapes captivated me, making me wish we could stay longer. Sadly, our accommodation was pre-booked on Senja for the entire trip—a mistake I won’t repeat next time!
From Kvaløya, we boarded a ferry to Senja, and that’s where the adventure truly began. Every twist and turn of the road revealed jaw-dropping views, the kind that make you want to stop every 100 meters. Be warned, though—parking spots are scarce, so drive carefully and plan ahead!
Our must-see stops included Segla, Hesten, and the iconic Devil’s Teeth (Djevelens Tanngard). But the real magic of Senja lies in its hidden gems. Wander off the beaten path, explore its lesser-known corners, and I promise you won’t regret it.
Segla and Hesten
Segla and Hesten are two the most famous mountains on Senja, an island in the north of Norway. The classic shots of Segla are taken from Hesten or the pass between these two mountains.
